The Physiotherapy Department is located on the 1st floor of Paphos General Hospital and is a modern 170 m² physiotherapy unit, equipped with specialised staff and advanced technological equipment. The department offers specialised, high-quality physiotherapy services to patients of all ages, aiming to ensure the best possible recovery and relief.

Advantages of the Physiotherapy Department:
• Immediate service: Ability to arrange appointments promptly, even on the same day.
• Specialised staff: 4 registered physiotherapists with strong academic backgrounds who continually expand their knowledge through further specialisations.
• Early neonatal intervention: 2 registered physiotherapists in the paediatric association, specialised in paediatric physiotherapy for early intervention in premature infants and children with neurological deficits. Additionally, physiotherapy intervention is provided for children with musculoskeletal and respiratory problems.
• Wide range of advanced technological equipment: The department includes Laser, Magnetotherapy, Shock Wave, Cryotherapy, Paraffin baths, Electrotherapy–Ultrasound–Combined therapy devices, latest-generation TECAR diathermy, Light Gait (Body-Weight Support Treadmill), paediatric equipment such as Platform Swing, proprioception games, Galileo, CPM, bicycles–hand bikes, Bobath balls, among others.
• Wheelchair and disability aid assessments:
The department evaluates patient needs, provides information on disability aids, completes all required documents, and guides individuals through the application process, especially those facing social inclusion difficulties. Physiotherapists in public hospitals are the only ones authorised to apply for wheelchairs for individuals receiving severe disability allowance.

Specialised Staff and Physiotherapist Expertise:
The physiotherapists of the department are specialised in various fields and provide personalised care tailored to each patient’s needs. The department offers inpatient treatment in wards and the High Dependency Unit. It supports nearly all medical specialties with a holistic approach to patient care.

Specialised physiotherapy techniques applied include:

Manual Therapy:
Kaltenborn, McKenzie, PNF, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Kinesiotaping, BOWEN.
Specialised techniques for mobilisation of joints and soft tissues.

Neurological Rehabilitation:
• Bobath Method (NDT): Treatment for adults and children with neurological deficits.
• Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (P.N.F.): Treatment for patients with neurological conditions or deficits.

Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation:
Specialisation in rehabilitation for individuals with spinal cord injuries or damage.

Respiratory and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation:
Therapies aiming to improve respiratory and cardiovascular function, especially for patients after surgery or with chronic conditions.

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy: Coming soon
Specialisation in the treatment and rehabilitation of pelvic floor dysfunction, such as incontinence and functional disorders.

Hydrotherapy:
Currently in the process of renovating the department’s pool.
Development and implementation of specialised physiotherapy programmes in the pool for musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

Lymphedema Rehabilitation:
Therapy for reducing lymphedema using specialised massage techniques and other methods.

Paediatric cases treated include: hemiplegia, paresis, cerebral palsy, torticollis, clubfoot, obstetric palsies, syndromes, etc.
