Since October 2021, the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) has supported the operation of a Multidisciplinary Long COVID Clinic at Nicosia General Hospital, coordinated by Dr. Andreas Tofarides, Specialist in Internal Medicine of the Infectious Diseases Unit – Internal Medicine Clinic of Nicosia General Hospital.
The multidisciplinary team consists of physicians specializing in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, and Pulmonology, and is supported by the experienced Physiotherapy Department and the Clinical Dietetics Department.
Since the beginning of its operation, the Coordinating Internal Medicine Clinic has conducted more than 600 visits, serving over 300 patients. Through a holistic and personalized approach, it represents the only organized nationwide service providing comprehensive care to patients with persistent symptoms following COVID-19 infection.
In response to the needs that emerged from the clinic’s operation, from 2025 SHSO will proceed with its renaming to Post COVID-19 and Post-Infectious Syndromes Clinic (Post Viral Syndrome).
The purpose of this development is to monitor and support patients who, after the acute phase of any infection, present with prolonged symptomatology, thereby reinforcing the organization’s commitment to the continuous and comprehensive provision of healthcare services.
