Clinic Profile

Heavy Injuries are the leading cause of death in the western world, yet only a few hospitals have a Trauma Centre.

The Trauma Center of Nicosia General Hospital is the first and only Level 1 trauma center in Cyprus. We have the expertise to treat patients with high-risk injuries including severe burns, shooting injuries and severe injuries caused by a car or a workplace accident. We collaborate with specially trained surgeons including neurosurgeons, orthopaedics, heart surgeons, vascular surgeons, and plastic surgeons to assist you throughout your recovery.

An injury can happen any time – that’s why we are here when you need us the most.

Trauma Care 24/7

Our trauma centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and it treats more than 1.200 patients a year.  Whether people arrive in a critical condition, or by an ambulance, or by helicopter, we evaluate the condition quickly and we plan the treatment and the recovery of the patient.

Specialized Facilities:

  • Unit for patients recovering from a surgery caused by trauma

Synchronized and holistic treatment:

When patients arrive by ambulance or helicopter, their treatment begins before they reach the hospital. There is an intensive co-ordination among the mobile units, the intensive care nurses, the doctors and the pre-hospital paramedical health professionals. Patients with severe multi-systemic injury or those who need resuscitation or immediate surgery, bypass the emergency area and they are immediately transferred to the resuscitation suite or operating room of the trauma centre for a life-saving surgery.

In order for the continuous treatment to be ensured, the patients are accompanied by a Trauma surgeon from the admission until stabilized. We monitor their progress in every step while coordinating with other specialists to ensure that the patients receive the right treatment from their admission to their discharge.
