TThe Ophthalmology Department of Larnaca General Hospital provides specialised services covering the full spectrum of ophthalmic conditions, including:

Primary ophthalmic conditions:

  • Ocular globe injuries (surgical management)
  • Cataract (surgical management)
  • Glaucoma (medical and surgical management)
  • Pterygium
  • Chalazion
  • Corneal diseases
  • Disorders of the lacrimal system and eyelids
  • Retinal diseases
  • Refractive errors, etc.

A wide range of other conditions manifesting in the eye, such as:

  • Inflammatory diseases
  • Degenerative conditions
  • Systemic autoimmune connective tissue diseases and vasculitides (e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren’s syndrome, Wegener’s granulomatosis, etc.)

The Ophthalmology Department is fully equipped and continuously upgraded. There are three (3) fully equipped outpatient clinics for consultants, including slit lamps, Goldmann tonometers, non-contact (air-puff) tonometers and autorefractors.
