Clinic Profile

The Orthopaedic Clinic of Famagusta General Hospital covers a wide range of surgical and conservative treatments for orthopaedic conditions in adults and children.

Our surgery schedule includes both emergencies that are treated immediately and cases with chronic orthopaedic conditions that are scheduled for surgery days (Wednesday and Friday).

The department performs specialised surgical operations for the following:

The whole range of adult fractures and trauma cases (external and internal osteosynthesis, femur fracture fixation with intramedullary rod, semi-total and total hip and shoulder), as well as their complications (infections, pseudoarthrosis). Paediatric fractures. Adult reconstructive surgery (total hip, knee and shoulder arthroplasties). Arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgeries. Microsurgeries (such as repair of upper and lower limb injuries, trauma amputations, suturing of blood vessels and nerves, tendon placement). Operations for non-urgent conditions of upper and lower limbs (e.g., corrective osteotomies, ligament reconstructions, entrapment neuropathies, Dupuytren’s contracture, tendon sheath inflammations, corrective plastic deformities of fingers, hallux valgus, adult flatfoot and cavus foot, as well as soft tissue interventions, etc.). Chronic lumbosacral pain treated with radiologically-guided epidural injection. The Orthopaedic Clinic covers the A&E Department with an on-duty doctor on a daily basis.
