Clinic Profile

The Paediatric Centre for Liver, Gastroenterology and Nutrition Arch. Makarios III Hospital/King’s College Hospital, is the National Reference Centre for children with paediatric gastrointestinal and liver conditions. It serves referrals from paediatricians and doctors of other specialties, for children and adolescents of up to 18 years diagnosed with: liver or pancreatic diseases, chronic hepatitis B and C, Celiac disease, Idiopathic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), chronic acid reflux, Eosinophilic esophagitis, short bowel syndrome, possible food allergies, blood in stool, chronic constipation-coprostasis, chronic recurrent abdominal pain, developmental disorders and anything else related to persistent gastrointestinal symptoms.

The Centre also carries out: endoscopies of the upper and lower GI tract, wireless endoscopy using video capsule, invasive endoscopy-polypectomy, dilation, haemostasis, endoscopic gastrostomy. The Centre maintains an institutional partnership with King’s College Hospital in London. It represents Cyprus in the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) and participates as a member at a European Reference Networks programme focusing on rare Liver Disease Programme (ERN – Rare Liver).
